Refugee & Immigrant Day at the Capitol 2020

Join us for the seventh annual Refugee and Immigrant Day at the Capitol in Frankfort on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.

tentative SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Music in the Rotunda
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. – Rally
2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. –¬†Advocacy activities, such as self-guided tours of the Capitol and session viewing (limited session passes available on a first-come, first-served basis)

Organized and supported by a coalition of agencies: Catholic Charities of Louisville, ACLU of Kentucky, Catholic Conference of Kentucky, UFCW Local 227, Kentucky Refugee Ministries Louisville and Lexington, Americana Community Center, Inc., International Center of Kentucky, La Casita Center, Doors to Hope, Backside Learning Center, Jewish Family and Career Services, Global Human Project, RefugeeConnect and Navigate Enterprise Center. WHY:

It is important for elected officials on all levels to be educated about immigration and the refugee resettlement program, as well as the contributions refugees and immigrants make to our state. This also serves as a civic engagement opportunity for all Kentuckians, including newcomers in our state, to learn how to participate in our democracy.
