April 2024 is the 23rd annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This annual campaign is aimed at educating and raising awareness to reduce the likelihood of sexual assault, help prevent violence in our communities, and provide resources to victims of sexual abuse and violence.
Refugee and immigrant women and girls are at an even greater risk of experiencing violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking, which is why building communities of support and elevating awareness are vital for their safety, well-being and healing, as these newcomers rebuild their lives in Kentucky.
Thanks to everyone who joined KRM’s Victims of Crime Advocate (VOCA), Cassidy Wheeler, for this session about sexual assault prevention, advocacy, and resources. The slides from the session are below for anyone who missed the Lunch & Learn or would like more info about available resources and how to help victims of sexual assault and violence.
