_Lunch & Learn (August 2023)

In honor of Citizenship Day, Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) is hosting a virtual Lunch & Learn event on Wednesday, August 30th, from 12-12:30 pm. The event will shed light on KRM’s county-wide citizenship program, explore the pathway to naturalization, barriers to citizenship, and the proposed changes to the naturalization interview.

Lunch & Learns are hosted by KRM Communications & Outreach Manager, Alex Miniard, and this session will feature information presented by KRM Citizenship Coordinator, Jason Wade.

During the Lunch & Learn event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about how KRM helps refugees and immigrants across Jefferson County (not just KRM clients) prepare for their citizenship test, as well as how volunteers help support their success. We will also discuss the barriers many face on their journey to becoming a U.S. citizen and how potential changes to the naturalization interview could affect those seeking citizenship.

This virtual event is open to the public, and no registration is required. If you would like to attend, please join via the Zoom link below:

This Lunch & Learn event is part of KRM’s ongoing series that provides an opportunity for individuals to learn, engage, and discuss important issues related to refugees and immigrants. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with refugee resettlement professionals and gain a better understanding of how they can support the work of KRM and refugees and immigrants in their communities.

If you are keen in learning about mental health and wellness in refugee and immigrant communities, then don’t miss this valuable opportunity. Join us on August 30th for this informative Lunch & Learn event and be a part of the conversation. For more information about the event or how you can get involved,  contact Alex Miniard, our Communications & Outreach Manager, at aminiard@kyrm.org.
