In 2010, KRM United kicked off their first season in the local Greater Louisville Soccer League, and the team is still going strong six years later! Refugees and KRM staff members from different walks of life were joined together by the most popular sport in the world. Players and staff members forming the team came from countries such as Nepal, Bosnia, Burma, Haiti, Cuba, Sudan, Iraq, Congo, Palestine and United States. We believe that playing and participating in KRM United goes beyond the soccer field.
Watch this 2012 video of the team sharing some of their highlights:
Through soccer, KRM United promotes the integration of refugees into our local Louisville community. Players learn the benefits of working hard, being part of the team, and are encouraged to build friendships and unity within the team and the city-wide community. The team, league fees, and equipment are all funded 100% through donations of a few local businesses and many KRM staff members.
We would love to keep this program and the team for many more seasons to come, but we need your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the KRM United fund. You can make a check payable to Kentucky Refugee Ministries and designate your gift to KRM United in your memo line. Checks can be mailed to 969-B Cherokee Rd, Louisville, KY 40204. Gifts are accepted online as well. Thank you for your support!
