donate furniture & Household goods
To prepare for refugee families arriving in Kentucky, KRM secures rental housing and provides home furnishings. To help in this endeavor, KRM relies on the generosity of community supporters, companies, and organized faith or civic groups. Your gently used furniture and household items can help make a refugee family’s new apartment into a home.
All year long, our donation teams in Louisville and Lexington deliver furniture and household goods to newly-arriving refugee families. We are so grateful that community interest in donating household goods to new refugee families has grown.
what to donate
We accept a variety of furniture and household goods. You can see a full list by clicking the green button below. If you have an idea of something else you want to donate or a donation drive you want to start, let us know! A contact link is at the bottom of this page.
how to donate
You can bring smaller items directly to our offices during regular business hours. Our addresses are listed on our contact page. We’d be happy to provide you with a donation receipt in person, as well. Please do not leave furniture items outside of our offices so that they do not get damaged by weather.
Schedule A Pick-Up
Or, if you have large furniture items and need KRM to pick those up at your home, we can do that, too. If you request that KRM pick up your items at your home, please know that we schedule these pick-ups 1-2 weeks in advance. We appreciate your support and understanding!
Whether you plan to bring items to our offices or if you’re scheduling a pick-up, please notify our donations team by clicking the orange button and submitting an online form.
Bikes can make a vital impact on a refugee’s life, sometimes making the difference in whether or not they can travel to a new job. KRM partners with Beargrass Christian Church’s Pedal Power Project in Louisville, Kentucky, to provide bicycles to refugees. Pedal Power Project accepts used bicycles and can refurbish them when necessary. Bicycles for kids and adults are both welcome! To donate your bicycle, call Beargrass Christian Church at (502) 896-1161.
Louisville and Lexington
Refugees arrive with little to no possessions. Your donated clothing can provide a warm welcome. KRM has a partnership with Goodwill Industries stores in both Louisville and Lexington. You can bring clothing donations to a local Goodwill store and request “nonprofit credit” for Kentucky Refugee Ministries. Then, KRM receives Goodwill vouchers for refugee clients so they can shop for clothing or household items of their choice.
