World Refugee Day

June 20th is the globally recognized as World Refugee Day. KRM hosts community gatherings to celebrate together with food, music, dance, and play. You can learn more about World Refugee Day at UNHCR’s site.

arts and culture events

You can join us for an upcoming KRM Live or one of our KRM Arts & Culture programming events! These events are held throughout the year and feature both international and US-born artists as well as partnerships with local arts and culture organizations. Arts and culture partners have included the Louisville Orchestra, Teddy Abrams, Speed Art Museum, Muhammad Ali Center, Bernheim Forest, 21c Museum Hotels, Louisville Free Public Libraries, Academy of Flamenco Arts, Louisville Salsa Underground, Haiti Creafo Dance Co., RhythmScienceSound, Newcomer Academy, La La Land Studios, KY Opera and more! Fundraisers

Fundraising events are a time to gather supporters together to further the mission of KRM’s work. In Louisville, KRM hosts a Global Gourmet fundraiser in the fall (Please Note: Global Gourmet has been paused for 2026). The event features an international buffet, live music, and a speaking program. In Lexington, KRM hosts a summer/fall fundraiser called Passport to Flavor. This market-style event includes international booths, live music, and goods for purchase.

Refugee & Immigrant Advocacy

Beginning in 2026, with partnership and funding from the Refugee Advocacy Lab and Church World Service (CWS), KRM has focused efforts on education and advocacy to elected officials on both the state and federal levels. This work aims to promote policies that support immigrants and refugees; to inform legislators on the vast benefits and contributions these communities bring to the United States; to reinstate funding and access to vital assistance and resettlement programs; and to uphold our promise of protection and support to forcibly displaced people rebuilding their lives as our neighbors. These efforts additionally include advocacy training and collaboration with local immigrant and refugee community leaders and aim to increase awareness across communities, elevate visibility and ensure representation.

Throughout the broader community, KRM participates in events and holds presentations that help to increase cultural awareness and promote solidarity, support and advocacy for immigrants and refugees. Other Community Events

Do you have an idea to support KRM’s work? Students and community groups get involved in many creative ways. You can organize a furniture donation drive, create a fundraising competition, or even run a race to support KRM. Let us know if you are hosting an event to benefit KRM and we’ll spread the word on social media.
