As part of KRM’s mission to promote awareness of diversity for the benefit of the whole community, we participate in various events throughout the year. 

World Refugee Day

June 20th is the globally recognized as World Refugee Day. KRM hosts community gatherings to celebrate together with food, music, dance, and play. These event details will be shared on KRM’s email newsletters and social media. You can learn more about World Refugee Day at UNHCR’s site.

You can join us at one of the upcoming KRM Live gatherings! These events are held about once each quarter and feature both international and US-born artists. You can learn more at our blog and on social media, too.

Fundraisers

Fundraising events are a time to gather supporters together to further the mission of KRM’s work. In Louisville, KRM hosts a Global Gourmet fundraiser in the fall. The event features an international buffet, live music, and a speaking program. In Lexington, KRM hosts a summer/fall fundraiser called Passport to Flavor. This market-style event includes international booths, live music, and goods for purchase.

Refugee & Immigrant Advocacy

KRM brings newcomers to Kentucky’s state capitol, Frankfort, to explore the grounds, to meet with legislators during the General Assembly, and to celebrate and honor each other at a community rally on the grounds or in the Capitol Rotunda. This effort is organized by a statewide coalition of groups that serve immigrants and refugees. Volunteers and community members are invited to join the rally as well. This event occurs during the General Assembly session and is often scheduled for February or March.

Other Community Events

Do you have an idea to support KRM’s work? Students and community groups get involved in many creative ways. You can organize a furniture donation drive, create a fundraising competition, or even run a race to support KRM. Let us know if you are hosting an event to benefit KRM and we’ll spread the word on social media.
