Our Lexington office is participating in the Blue Grass Community Foundation‘s GoodGiving Challenge. The Challenge is an opportunity for the local Lexington Community to embrace and support nonprofits providing a variety of services to better our Lexington community. This year KRM is asking for help to welcome our newly arrived refugee families to the city. For the 2017 fiscal year, KRM Lexington will be resettling over 350 individuals. Our largest group of nationals are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, though we also resettle families from Iraq, Afghanistan, Burma, Bhutan, Syria, Burundi, and Ukraine. We are so lucky to have such a welcoming community of volunteers, interns, donors, and cosponsors here in Lexington and the surrounding areas.
The GoodGiving Challenge is an online donations challenge for participating nonprofit organizations. We really need your help during this final push to raise money for our core services and programs. Donations go towards families’ rent and utilities, monthly bus passes, English language instruction, winter wear for the family, groceries, and baby supplies for new parents, among other services. KRM is currently eligible for up to $5,000 in a match grant from the Mitchell Family Foundation and endowment prizes from the BGCF.
The Challenge ends on December 31, so we really need your help during this final week of good giving! Please join us on social media by sharing our posts and asking your friends and family to donate. You can join in the conversation on Facebook and Twitter using #BGGives. Visit bggives.org. Thank you for your continued support and for welcoming refugees!
