This month, Louisville-area students in KRM’s Rise Up program celebrated each other and their achievements at a year-end event, Rising Above. Students were joined by family members and KRM volunteers to share their accomplishments. The volunteer mentors partnered with students throughout the school year to help them achieve their goals – from improving their grades, studying for the ACT, completing college admissions applications, and submitting scholarship applications.
The group consisted of students of many ages and educational levels. This spring, nine high school students graduated. Seven students are moving onto further educational opportunities such as Jefferson Community and Technical Colleges, Indiana University Southeast, and Berea College. JCTC offers a special ULtra program that prepares students to transition to University of Louisville.
KRM is grateful for a longtime partnership with Angela Scharfenberger at JCTC and for the support and inspiration she’s provided to countless students. Congratulations to these bright and hardworking achievers!
