Take It Back! Album Release

Thirteen Louisville artists have joined forces on Take It Back!, a protest compilation out October 30, 2026. The record benefits Kentucky Refugee Ministries (KRM) and its Art Makes Home programming.
The album gathers songs written in answer to the moment. Mason Colby’s “Minnesota, Oh My Lord” honors people killed while standing up for their neighbors. LOUIE V Edsel’s “Can’t Stop Us” and Yapa!’s bilingual “Un lugar para existir” speak to immigrant families living under the threat of raids. Glenn Davis lays out the warning signs of dictatorship in “How Does It Look To You?”, Houseplant’s “Drops” ties climate collapse to inequality and police violence, and mothbaby’s “Salvation” takes aim at religious hypocrisy.
The styles run from folk and rock to hip-hop, with songs in both English and Spanish. What ties them together is a city’s musicians refusing to stay quiet and choosing to turn that refusal into support for their neighbors.
KRM’s Art Makes Home programming celebrates refugee and immigrant communities in Louisville by highlighting artistic traditions from across the world and here locally. It promotes cultural awareness and the vitality of diversity, offering publicly accessible global arts and culture opportunities throughout the community. Art Makes Home uniquely builds collaborative relationships between global and U.S.-born artists, intertwining creative styles to represent the cultural mosaic of Louisville while exemplifying human connectedness.
