For the second installment of the Celebrating Our Neighborhood KRM and LFPL partnership series, we highlight the diverse arts and culture of Iraq. During this event series, we will explore the history, arts, cuisine and music traditions of Iraq through UofL historians, artists, former refugees, and members of the local Kurdish and Iraq communities.
Presented over three nights in July, August and September, these entertaining and educational events will be held at various Louisville Free Public Library locations across Louisville.

The region of Iraq, known as Mesopotamia in the ancient world, has an exceptionally long and rich cultural history. In this presentation Dr. Brad Bowman will survey the region’s medieval past, leading up to the modern era, and Dr. Nadia Rasheed will share a closer look at current events in the area.
