DESCRIPTION:Attend a KRM Louisville Info Session & Volunteer Orientation to learn more about refugees and resettlement in KY or to begin volunteering with KRM! These sessions are offered on the first Thursday of every month (unless otherwise noted) and presented in a hybrid format (options of Zoom or in-person). \nFor those who would like to learn more about refugee resettlement but aren’t ready or able to volunteer at the moment – You’re welcome to join us for the info session in the first segment (approx. 40-45 min.). The info session provides a better understanding of topics\, such as the refugee journey\, newcomers to Louisville\, cultural awareness\, and KRM services for refugee and immigrant clients. \nIf you are applying to volunteer with KRM Louisville\, you will need to attend both segments of the session\, which includes both the info session and volunteer orientation. This orientation will provide more info on the volunteer opportunities currently available\, weekly hours and frequency or duration of each department placement\, volunteer application requirements\, and offer an opportunity to ask questions to KRM staff. \nTo learn more about volunteering at any of the KRM office locations (Louisville\, Lexington\, or Northern KY)\, please visit the Volunteer Page on our website. REGISTER HERE to attend an Info Session & Volunteer Orientation. Saturday\, August 23rd\, we explore cuisine and culture! \nPLEASE NOTE: Registration is currently full. Join the waitlist HERE\, and you will be notified by LFPL when a spot opens! \nNow in its third year\, this series showcases the artistic and cultural traditions of refugee and immigrant communities throughout  Louisville at LFPL locations in a diversity of neighborhoods across the city.  \nPast installments have highlighted the arts and culture of Cuba (2023) and Iraq (2024). For this annual series\, artists and professionals from the featured community showcase their artistry\, customs\, skill and knowledge across three different events in July\, August and September.  \nThis year\, Celebrating Our Neighborhood focuses on the arts and culture of Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and will feature members of the Congolese American community.
