SUMMARY:Celebrating Our Neighborhood: The Music & Arts of Haiti
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the fourth-annual Celebrating Our Neighborhood event series in partnership with Louisville Free Public Libraries (LFPL)\, as we explore and showcase the arts and culture of Haiti! \nFor the third and final event in the 2026 Celebrating Our Neighborhood series\, we explore the music and arts of Haiti. This event will feature Haitian American singer/songwriter\, Christella Philippe; Haiti Creafo\, lively Haitian folkloric dancers and drummers; hand painted traditional Haitian clothing; and youth artwork from the organization\, The Route\, that provides support to the local Haitian community. The Music & Arts of Haiti will be presented at South Central Regional Library on Saturday\, September 12th\, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. \nThis is a free event\, but registration is recommended to guarantee seating availability. REGISTER HERE or call (502) 574-1623. Check out other events in the lineup at LFPL’s Celebrating Our Neighborhood event page. \nAbout the series: \nDebuting in 2023\, each annual Celebrating Our Neighborhood series highlights the arts and culture of one of the many vibrant immigrant and refugee communities of Louisville across three events (cuisine\, history and music/art)\, held at different library locations throughout the city. Previous years have showcased the arts and culture of Cuba (2023)\, Iraq (2024)\, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (2025). \nThis unique series not only offers the opportunity to experience and learn about a diversity of global cultures\, it also aims to elevate visibility of marginalized communities as well as build bridges between neighbors. By uplifting immigrant and refugee voices\, Celebrating Our Neighborhood also helps to demonstrate our shared humanity and connectedness with one another around the world. \nAll Celebrating Our Neighborhood events are free\, but registration is recommended to guarantee seating availability. Register with LFPL HERE.
