DESCRIPTION:Attend a KRM Lexington Info Session & Volunteer Orientation to learn more about refugees and resettlement in Kentucky or to begin volunteering with KRM! March’s orientation will be held on July 7th at 6pm at KRM Lexington’s office. \nFor those who would like to learn more about refugee resettlement but aren’t ready or able to volunteer at the moment – You’re welcome to join us for the info session in the first segment (approx. 30-45 min.). The info session provides a better understanding of topics\, such as the refugee journey\, newcomers to Lexington\, cultural awareness\, and KRM services for refugee and immigrant clients. \nIf you are applying to volunteer with KRM Lexington\, you will need to attend both segments of the session\, which includes both the info session and volunteer orientation. SUMMARY:Celebrating Our Neighborhood: Cuisine of Haiti
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the fourth-annual Celebrating Our Neighborhood event series in partnership with Louisville Free Public Libraries (LFPL)\, as we explore and showcase the arts and culture of Haiti! \nThis three-part series kicks off on Saturday\, July 18th\, from 1:00 – 2:30 PM with the Cuisine of Haiti at Northeast Regional Library. For this event\, Mackendy Alcinvil\, the chef of local Haitian restaurant\, Caribbean Cafe\, will present a cooking demonstration and share the cultural and historic significance of Haitian food traditions and dishes. \nPLEASE NOTE: Registration is required to guarantee seating availability for this event. We recommend registering as soon as possible\, as space is limited and fills up quickly! Previous years have showcased the arts and culture of Cuba (2023)\, Iraq (2024)\, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (2025). \nThis unique series not only offers the opportunity to experience and learn about a diversity of global cultures\, it aims to elevate visibility of marginalized communities as well as build bridges between neighbors.
