Many local churches and community organizations extend generous support to Kentucky Refugee Ministries' Lexington sub-office by agreeing to co-sponsor a newly-arrived refugee family. These co-sponsoring congregations collect furniture, clothes and household items for the family, pay their rent for the first three months and assist KRM case management staff in taking family members to appointments and orientating them to their new community. Just as importantly, church and agency co-sponsors provide a newly-arrived refugee family with an invaluable measure of support, encouragement and friendship.
