Douglas R. Carlisle Memorial Scholarship
Sudanese refugee Alier Mareet won the inaugural Douglas R. Carlisle Memorial Scholarship in 2008 and 2009. Mareet used the $500 award to pursue his studies at Indiana University Southeast. Established by Doug Carlisle's family and friends, the memorial scholarship honors Doug Carlisle's personal commitment to assist refugee/immigrant youth who, in the face of enormous challenges, remain motivated to pursue their dreams of education and service to the larger community.
